Randy Moss Played with Separated Shoulder
February 2nd, 2010 | by timmagoon |Kudos to Mike Reiss for breaking the story about Randy Moss playing from Week 5 on with a separated shoulder. A lot of people got on Moss, especially towards the end of the year, about the effort he was putting in on game day. Although the extent of the injury is not known, this could be part of the reason Moss’s production dipped towards the end of the regular season.
In watching Moss this year, I did not feel his effort was any different that in previous seasons. Randy Moss looks like he takes plays off in almost every game. In fact, Moss has such long strides that even when he is going full speed, he doesn’t look like he is putting in full effort. Brady and Belichick both came to his defense this year when he was being questioned. I don’t think either of those guys would come out so strongly to protect a person that they both felt was dogging it. Moss is still considered one of the most lethal down-the-field threats in the NFL. Sure, he is getting up there in age and may have lost a bit of his speed but he is still uber-talented and extremely smart. Randy Moss will come back next year and be just as productive as he has been in a Patriots.
Oh by the way – This was #81’s stat line for 2009: 83 receptions, 1,264 yards, and 13 touchdowns. Not bad for a down season, huh?
