Randy Moss Press Conference – Reaction

December 22nd, 2009 | by PatsChowder |
Randy Moss

In a weekend where the Patriots essentially clinched a playoff birth, I somehow find it amazing that we are still talking about Randy Moss. But this time, I am glad that it’s for the right reasons. Moss finished the game with a team high in receptions (5), receiving yards (70), and he tossed in a touchdown for good measure. However, it’s not his play on the field that has the Patriots Nation buzzing. It was his press conference.

If you missed Randy Moss’ press conference on Sunday you should check out the video by following that link. It’s all of 51 seconds, because, well, Randy wasn’t feeling overly talkative. All I have to say is, GOOD FOR HIM.

I bought into this being a big game for Moss (as evidence I refer you to my Fantasy Pick of the Week) My apologies to Troy Brown, but Randy Moss changed the landscape of Patriots wide receivers. Never before had the Patriots seen a player of his type of talent at his position in a Patriots uniform. Yes, Moss was a malcontent. Yes, he has even been referred to as a clubhouse cancer. But when has that ever materialized in New England. The answer to that is never.

Moss has been a team player, a model citizen, and he’s surpassed every Patriots fan both on and off the field. One time the guy shows up late. One time he has a bad game. There is no reason for him to get tossed under the bus the way he was. And you know what, the old Randy Moss, the malcontent, the clubhouse cancer… he would’ve made the situation worse by throwing around some media friendly sound bites that isolate him from the team at the press conference. Instead, he proved again to be the bigger man in the Randy vs. Boston media spat. He gave an equivalent of “sticks and stones” and ends up looking like a team player.

Way to go, Randy.
