Fantasy Pick of the Week: Week 12
November 27th, 2009 | by PatsChowder |Fantasy Pick of the Week
So, about that Sam Aiken thing from last week. My bad. Let’s not dwell on the past and look forward to Monday Night’s epic match up against the New Orleans Saints. This week, you won’t have to dig as far down the depth chart as you might have thought. There are going to be plenty of fantasy points to go around on all sides of the ball this Monday night, and just as likely, there will be plenty of owners who are hoping their leads from Sunday hold up. However, the guy that you’re going to want to make sure is in your lineup this week is…

Laurence Maroney
Maroney has been a stud this season for the Patriots. It was a little over a month ago that I called out Laurence Maroney. I was tired of hearing how he was the one with the talent, but he couldn’t break out of the committee. It’s nice to see that when Maroney is healthy over a decent stretch of time he can produce and be relevant in fantasy football again.
So, why is he the pick to click this week? It’s simple. New Orleans is getting beat up against the run. Over the last five games, the Saints have allowed and average of 139.4 yards per game and allowed 8 rushing scores. Over that same stretch, Maroney has scored in five straight games (six total touchdowns).
I’ve been asking the Twitter community where they ranked Maroney over the past few weeks. Each time he has gotten the nod over the likes of players like Jamal Charles, Justin Forsett, and Jason Snelling each of whom are having success as of late. The confidence has been disturbing, but this week it is justified. Maroney should be a locked in starter in all leagues.
Prediction: 70-90 rushing yards and a touchdown
