Fantasy Pick of the Week: Week 11
November 18th, 2009 | by PatsChowder |Fantasy Pick of the Week
It’s that time again. I’m taking a glance into my crystal ball and pick out this week’s fantasy football player of the week from the New England Patriots. Now, as always, I attempt to pick someone that’s not too obious. No Tom Brady, no Randy Moss, no Wes Welker. That’s too easy. Honestly, when it comes to the Patriots, that doesn’t leave a lot of options, but that’s what makes it interesting. Anyone can tell you that Tom Brady is a good fantasy football play each week, but not many people would endorse…

Sam Aiken
I shouldn’t have to say this, but I will anyway, this is obviously more of a call for deeper leagues than it is for 10-team or less. Let’s face it, Aiken was only targeted 13 times in the three games leading up to last week before failing to get a look last week. This week, however, the stars may be aligning.
In the first match up between these two teams Randy Moss had to experience what has since come to be known as the “Darrelle Revis factor.” Revis blanketed Moss all over the field and shut him down to the tune of 4 receptions and 24 yards which was by far his lowest output of the season. Wes Welker sat that game out and Julian Edelman broke onto the scene. What went unnoticed was Joey Galloway’s performance. Galloway finished with a 5 reception 53 yard output which is where I see Aiken finishing. With Revis all over Moss, and Welker roaming the middle, both Edelman and Aiken will have their chances; however, I am betting on Aiken simply because Edelman already had his day in the sun against the Jets and those defenders will be looking to keep him at bay.
Prediction: 4-6 receptions, 40-60 yards, with the possibility of a long touchdown reception. Like I prefaced, this is a much better deep league play as we could see Aiken net somewhere from 8-12 points in PPR formats.
