Fantasy Pick of the Week: Week 6
October 16th, 2009 | by PatsChowder |Fantasy Pick of the Week
So here we are… week 6. The Patriots are 3-2 and taking on an 0-5 Titans team that has been an utter embarrassment to everyone involved. In fact, last week, there was even a Vince Young sighting. Regardless, the Titans have held up their end of the bargain in one facet of the game: run defense. They’ve done their job as only Rashard Jennings of the Jaguars was able to crack the 50-yard mark. Forget 100-yard games, they’re stopping opponents at 50. This leaves one man, and only one man, as the lock it down no doubter fantasy player of the week.

Tom Brady
Oh yeah.
Tom F’n Brady.
As good as the Titans have been on the ground, they have been just that bad through the air. In fact, in five games they have allowed four 300-yard passing days. FOUR out of FIVE. Crazy. The poor soul that didn’t reach the mark was rookie Mark Sanchez who was playing in only his third career game. The other four quarterbacks (Ben Roethlisberger, Matt Schaub, David Garrard, and Peyton Manning) have averaged the following stat line:
30-for-40 (75% completion percentage), 338 yards, 3 TDs, 1 INT.
Are those numbers that you want on your fantasy team? I think so.
But let’s face it. Tom Brady’s owners are playing him every week of the season, so this pick isn’t necessarily a “make sure you start him” pick. Think of it like a, “we’re finally going to get to see the Tom Brady we have been waiting for” pick. He’s going to go nuts.
Prediction: 350 yards, 4 touchdowns, and… fine… 1 interception. Not to mention that the media will start talking about how the old Tom Brady is back in the saddle and the AFC needs to watch out… even though it may just be a fantastic mismatch.
