PatsChowder Game Ball:
Ben Watson

It’s hard not to give the game ball to one Tom Terrific, but he can only put the ball where it’s supposed to be. Someone else has to be there to bring it down, and that man was Ben Watson.

Not once did I think that Ben Watson would actually be a viable weapon in this passing attack. It’s not that I hate him, and he didn’t do anything to me personally to urge on the hate, it’s just that I have been waiting to see the Ben Watson that chased down Champ Bailey in a game for years and he’s seemingly been absent. On Monday night he finally showed up. While the Bills were in heavy duty coverage on Randy Moss and Wes Welker, Ben Watson was given the inside seam and split the zone like a banana not once but twice.

We finally got to see Watson become the athletic, fast tight end that the Patriots have been waiting for. Watson could fill a Dallas Clark-esque role with New England, if the Patriots chose to utilize him that way, but I can’t see them using the tight end like that consistently throughout the season. I’m still betting that Chris Baker has more touchdowns at the end of the season, but for one game Ben Watson deserves the game ball.
