Jarvis Green Wants to be a Saint

July 22nd, 2009 | by PatsChowder |

Jarvis Green is Making Retirement Plans with New Orleans

“This is my last year with the Patriots,” he said. “I’d love to come home and finish off as a Saint.”

Green

That was the quote from New England Patriots defensive end Jarvis Green as he spoke to a local Louisiana newspaper. The former LSU Tiger has lived in New England with his family for the last seven years, but still refers to Louisiana as his “home state.”

I have no problem for any player wanting to play for the team they grew up watching, or is near their family, or whatever. It’s actually a nice breath of fresh air to see that instead of the hired gun mentality free agency has become. But, I do have an issue with the fact that he’s letting this be known now when he still has a year under contract with New England. If he said these things next year then more power too him, but saying it now makes it hard to believe he really wants to be part of this team.

I’d say his potential cut rate just went up a little bit.
